Multiple sclerosis (MS) is the most common inflammatory disease of the central nervous system. The etiology of multiple sclerosis is unknown. MS is seen as an interplay of genetic susceptibility, environmental exposure, and dysregulation of the immune system. MS is probably triggered by an environmental factor in persons who are genetically susceptible. The roles of genes and environment are not fully understood in MS. Familial tendency in MS plays a major role in the understanding of genetics and environmental factors in MS (Ebers et
al., 1995; Sadovnick et al., 1996).
